Our Village
The Village of North Barrington is a unique and peaceful community. Its first leaders designed it that way and hoped it would last.
Over 60 years ago, concerned citizens joined together, lobbied Lake County and put a referendum on the ballot to create our small town. Fewer than 150 people voted in that first election to incorporate our village. Interestingly, the official polling place was a citizen’s garage! Our earliest neighbors, the founders of North Barrington, chose to lead, and they created a community designed to preserve the values that make our area so special.
Like you, we wanted to move to this community because it is simple, safe, and peaceful. We can thank our founders, and those first voters, for their selfless work, forethought, and wisdom.
Our Values
In recent years, each of us has served this community in our own unique way.
We have tried to continue the long tradition set forth by our village founders to maintain the simple, safe, and peaceful heritage of this community. We have kept local government small, made important community improvements, have worked to protect property values, and have honored taxpayers with some of the lowest village taxes in Lake County.
In most cases, these actions have gone unnoticed and without attention. They are simply done to support our citizens and honor the leadership tradition of protecting our community.
Local leadership is not glamourous, but it does require serious people with the right intentions.
Our Mission
Too often today, we see campaigns designed to intentionally misinform voters before an election. We watch as good candidates are bullied or blamed for untruths. Politics today is ugly, but local elections and community governance should not be that way.
We have decided to honor the leaders who created our community by supporting leaders that share their vision to keep North Barrington a simple, safe, and peaceful place to call home.
We formed the North Barrington Leaders PAC to promote better civic servants, dedicated to community values, and not personal, political ambition.
As leaders who have carried the torch from our founders to today, we hope you will join us in supporting leaders who will pursue solutions for tomorrow.
