Former Village Trustee Janice Sauer grew up visiting extended family in North Barrington and fell in love with our town’s natural beauty and community atmosphere. After she and her family moved to the Barrington area in the 1990’s, she became active in many community initiatives and organizations. Janice held leadership positions on various Barrington School PTO boards and served as the President of the Barrington High School Fine Arts Boosters for three consecutive years. Janice was appointed to the Village Board in 2013 and was re-elected, with the highest vote totals of anyone running for Village office in both 2015 and 2019. During her years on the Village Board, Trustee Sauer served as Village President Pro Tem, as a member of the Finance Committee, and oversaw our capital improvements and infrastructure programs.

Sam Oliver and her husband Bob have been active volunteers in our area for generations. For many, Sam is the prime example of a citizen leader. Sam has served in leadership roles in countless community organizations and has assisted in creating many more as part of the Barrington Area Development Council. In fact, she was one of the first recipients of BADC’s “Citizen of the Year” Award. Sam is a former School Board Member in Barrington District 220 and cares deeply about future generations. She has an even deeper passion for our natural environment and is probably best known for her leadership as the Staff Director of Citizens for Conservation, a role she held for 30 years. Just recently, Sam was inducted into the Illinois Outdoor Hall of Fame.
